The salicylic acid esters (salicylates) found in birch vitae rubbed into the skin cause congestion of diseased tissues and abolition of pain. Methyl salicylate has a bactericidal effect. How to properly prepare sauna whisks.

It is important not only to prepare and dry sauna whisks correctly, but also to wet them correctly.

None of the vittles should be brewed in boiling water!

The vittles are to be well soaked. At the same time, it should not be kept in water so that the leaves do not stick together. To prevent the dried leaves from falling off, first put the wattle in warm water, hold it for 2-3 minutes and then put it in hot water, cover it and leave it for 15-20 minutes.

Poor quality sauna whosks dropped into warm water will fall apart, so it is advisable to choose high quality and strong wittles. Very dry whisks should be steeped for longer. The fact that the leaves are prepared is indicated by the intense smell that will start to spread through the banya. 

The preparation time of sauna whisks is chosen according to the type of tree. Birch vittles with delicate leaves should be steeped for no longer than 15 minutes. On the other hand a strong oak whisks, needs 30 minutes.

To extract the maximum from , it should be soaked for at least 8-10 hours in cold water, then wrapped in a damp cloth and left on a shelf in the banya. Rinse with warm water immediately before treatment. .
